  • Key identification features : Lofty trees up to 25 m tall; branches stout, terete, glabrous, brown; leaves alternate, long-petioled (2.5–3.8 cm), rigidly coriaceous, elliptic-ovate, obtusely acuminate; dark green, shiny above, dull when dry; eglandular and glabrous beneath, margin thin with broad yellow border, lateral nerves 6–8 pairs; male inflorescence axillary raceme or panicle, solitary or paired, ebracteate, as long as or longer than leaves 7.5–11 cm, sometimes branched; flowers long-pedicelled (0.6–0.8 cm), buds globose (0.6 cm diam.), sepals 4, coriaceous, stamens 30–40, connective narrow. Fruits broadly 3-angled, dull green.
