  • Key identification features : Tree 20–30 m tall, 30–40 cm dbh; buttresses absent. Outer bark yellow-brown, flaky or irregularly peeling, soft; inner bark orange to light red, exuding clear sticky sap, turning yellowish upon exposure. Sapwood light brown, to 7 cm; heartwood red, often blackish toward the center. Flowers: calyx green; petals white or cream (falling); filaments cream; anthers yellow; style bifid, slender, recurved.
