- Key identification features : Small to medium-sized unarmed tree, up to 12 m tall, typically forking 2 m from the base, forming a rounded crown; Trunk angled, rarely straight, bark reddish-brown, flaking in large, thick, stiff, opaque pieces, inner bark (slash) smooth, pale pink, nearly scentless; Prophylls brown or green, pubescent, oblong, caducous, 4 mm long × 1 mm wide, often conspicuous; Leaves compund, petiole well-developed, more than half the length of the terminal leaflet, rachis often extended beyond the distal leaflet pair; Leaflets elliptic-oblong to broadly oblanceolate, base cuneate to acute, apex acute to slightly acuminate, margins entire, surface discolorous-olivaceous above, paler below, initially softly appressed-pilose beneath with hairs up to 0.6 mm long, later glabrescent; Inflorescence female 4-7 flowers in pedunculate cymes, male 8–10 flowers in subumbellate cymes, peduncle short (2–3 mm) or elongate (20–35 mm), pedicels 2–7 mm; Bracts linear, pale brown, caducous; Indumentum inflorescence and calyx densely covered with soft, erect hairs; Flowers female petals ±2.5 mm long, ovary ±2 mm, sparsely pubescent, style ±0.7 mm, male flowers calyx ±2 mm with narrowly triangular lobes ±1.4 mm long, petals narrowly elliptic-linear, ±4.5 mm long (incl. recurved tip), ±0.8 mm wide, sparsely pubescent outside, filaments 3.5 mm and 2.7 mm, anthers 0.7 mm and 0.4 mm; Fruit drupe, asymmetrically ellipsoid, glabrous or sparsely pubescent, borne singly or in groups of 2–3 on a common peduncle, pericarp 2-valved, pseudaril with 4 linear arms, sutural arm as long as the stone, sterile facial arm ⅘ as long, fertile facial arm ¾ as long as the black, smooth stone.
