  • Key identification features : Slender palm, growing up to 15 m tall with a mature spread of 5.5 m; Trunk grey, smooth, with a diameter of 15–30 cm at breast height, fairly slender, with an attractive leaf base pattern, formed by the leaf scars of fallen leaves; Leaves costapalmate, deeply recurved, strongly costapalmate, filiferous, petiole 1.8–2.4 cm wide, 1–2 m long, with an acute hastula, 5.1–7.0 cm long, hastula flat, undulate, occasionally revolute, involute, or erect along the margins, leaf segments 60-80 per leaf, connate for 25% of their length, middle segment 55-110cm long, 2.3-4.3cm iwde, 0.2-0.3mm thick, apex bifurcate, extending 30-40cm, surface glabrescent, often with lepidote pubescence on the adaxial surface of midveins; Fruit oblate spheroidal, greenish-brown, eventually turning black upon maturation, 15.3-22.4mm diameter, 135.5-20.1mm high.
