  • Key identification features : A tall solitary palm attaining over 20 m height; trunk annulate, grey, gently tapering from base. Leaves large, bipinnate, to 6 m long, spirally arranged and clustered at the apex of the trunk; secondary rachi 19 pairs, tip of the secondary rachi gently drooping; leaflets obliquely cuneate, produced into narrow, triangluar, obtuse, lamina, the outer margin not tailed; male flowers smaller, green when young; sepals dark green, imbricate; fruits green when unripe, turning yellow/orangish to red when mature, about 2.5 x 3.2 cm diameter, with 1 to 2 seeds; seeds black and shiny.
