  • Key identification features : A slow-growing, solitary fan palm reaching heights of 20–50 ft; Crown relatively narrow, 6-10 ft wide; Trunk about 2ft, light gray, smooth except for leaf scars; Leaves costapalmate, stiff, waxy, striking silvery-blue to bluish-gray in color, blades 4-6ft wide, 3foot long petioles; Petioles armed with yellow teeth, covered at the base with a woolly wax coating; Inflorescence branched, upto 15-20ft long, extending above and then arching downward past the leaves; Flowers small, creamy-white to fragrant white, fragrant; Fruit drupe, hard, berry-like, matures from reddish-brown.
