  • Key identification features : Small to medium-sized evergreen tree reaching 10–14 m in height with a dbh of 10–30 cm; bark thin, smooth to finely roughened, grey; slash red; young shoots minutely pubescent. Leaves dark green on the upper surface and Kelly green beneath featuring dark green primary, secondary, and tertiary veins that appear light green above; numerous leaf galls present on the abaxial surface; petioles long and thick; Flowers in short axillary panicles, about 8 mm long; calyx pubescent, petals red, filaments, stigma, and style white; anthers and ovary cream-colored. Flowers very fragrant.
